My name is Ron... And I’m a Libertarian.

Like my hero, Ronald Reagan, once said, “I didn’t leave the Democratic Party, they left me.”

To quote the Gipper…”Well.”

Let’s go back….. Way back to the 1790s. Thomas Jefferson didn’t like the Federalist Party. It seems the Federalist wanted more government control. (Can you say, Obama/Clinton?)

So along with James Madison they organized the Democratic-Republican Party. Their thought was to support states rights rather than a strong national government. (Huh) The party opposed high tariffs, running up the national debt and a national bank. (Double huh)

I find it funny that the Democratic-Republican Party was one party back then, just as it is today. However, the philosophy is much different. Unlike their founding father, the Dem/Rep Party of today is the good old tax and spend, and government is your babysitter policy. Today all senators, (both sides) spend like its spring break and they got daddy’s credit card.

While Obama, McCain, Clinton, et al. walk around the pool shirtless (ok not Clinton) ordering more drinks and shouting to bartenders, “Do you know who I am?”

Meanwhile back at the ranch… the dollar is dropping, gas prices are soaring, jobs are disappearing, and China is buying up our debt. Gone are the days of fiscal responsibility.

Neither party seems to know the answer. I’m not sure they even know the question. (Hint, the dollar)

Here’s the choice we have.

Hillary Clinton.

I started out by announcing I’m a
Libertarian. Although, I’m not a full-fledged Libertarian, (yet) they do make a lot of sense. There is a lot at stake in the coming election and I don’t believe in throwing away my vote. I will tell you the Democrats will not have my support, and so far neither will John McCain.

Mr. McCain, the ball is in your court. Don’t tell me what you can do for me. Tell me what you’re going to do for this country. Show leadership by having a plan, not catch phrases and calling me your friend.

I’d like to hear you address problem one, the slumping dollar. Everything that affects our lives is driven by the dollar. Our once all-mighty currency is now being laughed at by the Swiss Franc. You fix that and all matters of the economy will fall in line. You ignore it, by ballooning this government bigger than it already is, then we’re doomed. We don’t need bail-out programs for mortgage holders, or provide universal health care. Another word, no “New Deal” programs the other two candidates are in love with. We are still top-heavy from the Roosevelt days and this is a different world. This is not the time for progressive talk, (code for liberal answers).

I want to vote for you, Mr. McCain, but you can’t let the other side hoodwink you like they’ve done in the past. Please separate yourself, because the only difference I see, is you have an (R) beside you name.

Look, I’m not a gloom and doom the sky is falling kind of guy, but the atmosphere is getting closer to the ground.

We are Americans and we will pull through this…. Let’s just hope it’s sooner than later.

That’s the way Ron sees it.
