You can't spell sociaist without the CIA
Norman Mattoon Thomas (November 20, 1884 - December 19, 1968 and some of us are old enough to remember him running for President) was a leading American socialist, pacifist, and six-time presidential candidate for the Socialist Party of America.
Norman Thomas said this in a 1944 speech:
"The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of "liberalism," they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened." He went on to say: "I no longer need to run as a Presidential Candidate for the Socialist Party. The Democratic Party has adopted our platform."
During the Eisenhower administration Russian leader Nikita Khrushchev said this to US Agriculture Secretary Ezra Taft Benson.
“You Americans are so gullible. No, you won’t accept communism outright, but we’ll keep feeding you small doses of socialism until you’ll finally wake up and find you already have communism. We won’t have to fight you. We’ll so weaken your economy until you’ll fall like overripe fruit into our hands."
The drips and drabs of socialism have been leaking out for years. Now I’m afraid this latest stimulus program will open the floodgate to the United Socialist States of America. Without a shot fired we’ve surrendered. This is not President Obama’s fault; this is the government he and apparently all who voted for him wanted.
George Bush never vetoed a big spending bill so I’ll throw him under the bus and take my pound of flesh. Why Bush wasn’t the liberals golden boy, I’ll never know. The last conservative to live at the White House was Ronald Reagan. Since the Gipper, every President has taken up where FDR left off by adopting one socialist program after another. The fear, I guess, is that someone might actually fail in this land of opportunity. Well, guess what, it’s okay to fail. Failure is our compass, which directs us to success. Failure allows us to dream, failure ignites creativity, and most importantly failure teaches us lessons like humility and redemption. This is something the pinheads in Washington will never understand.
The more the government intervenes, the less we feel responsible for ourselves. The byproduct from this takes away our incentive, hard work, and reward.
Speaking of reward, this is another load of crap politicians like to spew. They’ve managed to make profit a dirty word. You hear President Obama separate the classes with great skill. He rips the rich by blaming them for your misfortune. It’s not your fault; it’s the CEO with his private jet and chauffeured driven limousine. (Daschle? Huh) It’s just not fair that the boss makes more money than you.
Failure and class envy are the two components, which breeds socialism. Throw in a willing congress and President who cut his teeth on leftist ideology what did you expect to happen?
Predictions from the past are here. We’ve slowly and deliberately squeezed our founding fathers principles into socialism and just like toothpaste it cannot be put back into the tube.

Meet the new greed, same as the old greed
Our poor economy was begat from public service greed. Congress, by abuse of power, called the shots to risky loans, which collapsed the housing market. Chris Dodd and Barney Frank were the ringleaders in this den of thieves. But it goes further and deeper than a couple of bozos that constantly get elected for no apparent reason
I’m talking about politicians putting their needs, wants, and desires ahead of the people they took an oath to serve. Which is worse, an oil executive making profits legally in a capitalist market, or an elected official selling favors to the highest bidder? Not only should an elected official be held to our standards, they should be a cut above without stagger or wobble. But we’ve come to accept public service greed with just a shrug of the shoulder while proclaiming Walmart is evil and corporate America is the diagnosis to every ill. Winning an election doesn’t mean you won the lottery. All too often that’s what happens when greedy politicians find loopholes through flimsy rules, or manage to forget about paying their taxes.
Tom Daschle is the poster boy for public service greed. He makes (earn is suspect) eighty-six thousand a month consulting. Most likely consulting is a code word for keeping an ex-senator in your back pocket for future use. Daschle feels the rules don’t apply to him; taxes are what the peasants pay. Who knows what would have gone on if Daschle were confirmed as secretary of health and human services? His wife is a well-known lobbyist—what could have possibly gone wrong? I pick on Daschle because he looks like a smarmy worm, but public service greed comes in all colors both Democrat and Republican alike.
Public service greed rips at the fiber that holds this country together. And somehow we must find a way to stitch righteousness back into our house before it’s too late. As citizens of this great country we are held accountable for our actions. Nothing states this clearer than paying taxes. However, Washington is full of tax cheats and inside corruption on the highest order. It bellows out of Capital Hill like a Chernobyl meltdown and infiltrates into the consciousness of the common man until we’re all mired in the muck of apathy.
We no longer care about honor or integrity; we want what’s in it for us. We vote for guys who promise us anything without understanding they’ll take everything. We buy into class envy by becoming outraged over executive’s salaries, but ignore the fact that congress cheats, steals, and lies their way to power, and power holds the key to everything.
I realize moral decline started when Adam bit the apple, but these clowns eat apples by the bushel without one sense of remorse. At least old Adam knew he was naked and felt ashamed, while the greed-mongers-of-Washington twist the shame on somebody else. And most of them can’t wait to get naked. (Hi Chris Dodd, how you doing?)
Power, greed, and corruption are not what our founding fathers had in mind when its citizens looked to their government. The toll taken on decency has finally bored a hole in our ship. She’s taking on water at breakneck speed and there’s not a bailout program to repair dignity or a stimulus package to overcome dishonesty. We’re led to believe that the answers lie in the same corrupt officials who placed this country in economic peril. We’re being sucked up in the ultimate shell game as the poundage of pork piles up at the trough. Public service greed-dwellers tell us we’ll spend our way out of this mess, they place fear in our heads in order to gain more power—it’s just that simple. This stimulus package is the first salvo in the battle for total government control. Soon we will have the odor of a third rate nation where individuals are beholden to a government that has no moral authority.
Nothing is more dangerous than a politician playing fast and loose with the constitution. But when you promise cradle to the grave protection from failure, that’s exactly what they’re doing. It’s funny, to a liberal the hardest thing to do is make it out of the womb. As a fetus you’re on your own partner, but that’s for another day.
How long before blogs like this disappear? You say it will never happen, well keep dreaming Mr. Kool-aid. We’re a “Fairness Doctrine” away from free speech and I know for a fact that the House of Representatives web browser has viewed this blog. I have a site meter that identifies traffic, and sure enough anytime I mention congressmen by name, boom, I get a hit from the House of Representatives. Coincidence? I think not. (Hello again Mr. Frank so glad you dropped by)
We reap what we sow.

Clean Slate
I wish nothing but the best for President Obama, to want otherwise would undermine the respect I have for this country and its political process. I want the Obama administration to succeed beyond all expectations. We must root for the President regardless of party, but keep a watchful eye on the principles we hold dear. The current President, George W. Bush, was not treated in this manner. From day one the opposition chanted, “Selected not elected.” President Bush didn’t start out with a clean slate or a honeymoon. This can not happen to President Obama. As Americans, Obama will be our President, and it’s our duty to respect the office and the man who sits behind the desk. The times are too uncertain to concern ourselves with sour grapes. However, there is nothing wrong with debating an issue. Americans were built to argue, it’s in our blood. But some take a debate and turn it into a license for hate.
We seldom get the President we elect. Running for the office is one thing, but occupying it, is another story. Presidents quickly learn campaign rallies turn into, what have you done for me lately? Friends become enemies and enemies become nightmares. A President gets too much credit when things go well and too much blame when things turn ugly. It comes with the territory, it’s the price you pay for wanting a job few have had.
I’m sure President Elect Obama will tick me off in the near future, we disagree politically. But not here, not now. He has a clean slate with me until a policy goes through I don’t support. And that's all a newly elected President should ask for.
There have only been 43 Presidents and Obama will be the 44th. Just eight Presidents ago this country went through civil unrest. Many blacks were turned away when they tried to cast a vote. True disenfranchisement ran rampant. I’m sure the struggle at the time seemed hopeless. If you would have told someone at the time, black or white, that in their lifetime a black man would be elected President, I’m sure you would’ve been laughed off the back of the bus.
Although I didn’t like the outcome of this last election (skin color had nothing to do with it) this is truly a remarkable country.

My date with Sarah
I tend to avoid crowds as best as I can, however, certain times calls for extreme measures, so I ventured out for a encounter with conservatives favorite gal, Sarah Palin.
The encounter took place in a small airport hanger just outside of Lakeland Florida. How fitting that the name of the airport is called “Fantasy of Flight,” because my fantasy girl was about to touch down on my right-winged heart. For selfish reasons I was hoping for a small turnout, three would’ve been nice, but a lot of guys like me showed up spoiling any chance of an intimate setting. Republicans by nature aren’t the roughneck type. No, we didn’t all have on starched white shirts under blue blazers and there wasn’t a mint julep concession stand to be found as we waited for the gates to open.
Rarely does a man get to talk openly about the other woman to his wife, but after years of marriage, my wife is secure enough to let me ramble on about a school boy crush and the women he’s about to meet. The fact that secret service agents would line the stage also calmed any fears that I would sweep Sarah off her feet and make a quick get-a-way down the I-4 corridor.
All this is possible because Florida is a swing state in the high stakes game of politics. I can thank the undecided voters for my chance to press the flesh with the lady I’m in total agreement with. Just think, my dream date hinged on some wacko who can’t make up their mind over socialism, or a free market. I guess its three cheers for the idiots.
As we entered the arena a quick decision needed to be made. Should we head for the seats which were a good distance from the stage, or stand up front, which would put me about thirty feet from the podium? My wife didn’t care, this was my fantasy not hers, so off we went to stand as close to the microphone as possible. The crowd was small at first, but soon Republicans from all walks of life converged in my little space creating what’s know in the rock and roll world as a mosh pit. This pit, though not as dangerous as drugged-out head-bangers pit, did have certain risks. For example, the old man in front of me smelled of mothballs and kept rocking back not only invading my space, but actually coming in contact with me. The woman to my right decided to bring in the biggest handbag that’s ever been made, which led to a constant barrage of a purse colliding with my hip. Between the old man and the lady I felt like a pinball bouncing to and fro. However, my sightlines stayed unobstructed and I knew in a few minutes all would be forgotten because Mrs. Sunshine would be standing only thirty feet from these eyeballs.
Two hours later, really, two hours later, I’m still standing, still waiting. My view of the podium was clear, yet uneasiness entered my mind. Young staffers from the Palin team started handing out campaign signs, large signs, the kind of signs that obstruct view, the kind of view I came for. Mothball man grabbed a sign and my view of the stage disappeared in a sea of blue “Country First,” signs. It was time to take action. I positioned myself in a way for mothball man to understand who he’s dealing with. I folded my arms letting my elbow protrude from the center of my chest. One rock back and Mr. Mothball would receive a nice gift between the shoulder blades courtesy of timely placed elbow. (Sometimes even likeminded people must be taught a lesson.) Within a minute the old man rocked back coincidently at the same time I happened to rock foreword. Let’s just say my view once again was clear and I had a perfect sightline to where the lady would be speaking.
I knew time was getting close because guys in suits wearing sunglasses (inside a building) made their way in front of the stage. I’m not familiar with Florida’s stalker laws, but evidently I looked the part because an agent kept looking my way as he whispered in his coat sleeve. I guess I couldn’t blame him, I had a camera in one hand, a video recorder in the other, drool running down my chin, and I just brought a ninety-year old man to his knees that dared to raise a sign in front of me.
I could just see myself being wrestled to the ground, so thinking quickly, I turned back to my wife and started a conversation hopefully giving the appearance I’m not some loner who has a shrine to Sarah Palin in my one room efficiency. My wife wiped the drool off my chin and patted me on the head. Now they think I’m mentally challenged and present no danger.
After two and one half hours of standing Mrs. Palin made her entrance giving a new definition to fashionably late. The crowd was ruckus, signs were waving, and all I could see were high heels and legs and I knew it was about to get better.
I didn’t pay much attention to her appearance, although her shoes had about three inch heels while bare legs disappeared in a snug fitting black skirt. A bright blue blouse with long sleeves rolled up just to her elbows revealed a white bracelet on her right wrist. She seemed tan for an Alaskan gal, however it went perfect with her designer glasses and her hair with a few brown highlights was pulled up over her ears. But like I said, I didn’t study her, that’s just what I remember.
Her stump speech wasn’t anything I haven’t heard, in fact, I probably knew it by heart, so it left me time to document my date with Sarah. I snapped photos for a while, and then took video, then went back to still photos. All in all I looked like the traveling media sans press pass and a Democrat voter card.
She wrapped up her speech to thunderous applause and I knew my date was coming to a close. Perhaps it was fate, or the kinetic energy one feels to be drawn to people on the same wave length, but it was probably just dumb luck. Whatever the case, Sarah Palin starts walking towards me. Suddenly we are alone in a building full of two thousand people. She steps down from the platform and moves to her right. I move to my left. People from all over congregate around us. They are handing her signs to autograph and hands to shake. In the meantime, my hands are full of cameras and I have no sign or pen for her to use to autograph.
For a brief second I’m standing face to face with what could be the second most powerful person in the world. Only inches separate us and I can’t think of one line to use on her. Anything would have been good. I could’ve said, “So, you come to Florida often?” Or, “Can I buy you a cup of coffee so we can strategize about your 2012 Presidential bid?”
But nothing fell from my mouth. The 14 year-old boy inside me just stood there while 46 year-old man hid.
I had what she wanted… my vote. She had what I wanted… her to be the next Vice President.
There we were at one place trapped in a political whirlwind with unspoken words passing through lips that didn’t move. With all the airport hangers in Florida she had to come to mine. And then just like that, she was gone, whisked away to another town to see another man just like me.
Sarah, we’ll always have Lakeland.

The times are a changing
Remember the term “Pinko” or “Commie?” What about, “duck and cover?” Forgotten terms from a time of panic. Reagan won the Cold War and what have we done with the victory? We’ve piddled down our legs while, it seems, the soft underbelly of communism known as socialism took root and became mainstream.
Example, Kennedy asks what you could do for your country. Obama promises what the country will do for you. Could John Kennedy be a Democrat today?
The election of Barrack Obama would be more than a slippery slope into big government; it’s a jump off the cliff freefall into Marxism. Obama is nothing more than a useful idiot to the likes of Bill Ayers and all that has an ax to grind with this country.
This idea that Obama is better for the economy seems odd. The man is clueless when it comes to capitalism. He’s never met a budget, made payroll, or dealt with government regulations. (Unless he’s voting for them)
Spreading the wealth around is as un-American as soccer. Our corporate tax is the second most in the world, how much more can we spread around?
Let me try to put it another way.
Let’s say you diet and exercise to keep your body fit. You’re in such good shape one could state you have two perfect kidneys. In other words, you’re rich in body parts.
On the other hand, your neighbor drinks, smokes and parties all night. The toll, by his decisions, has left him in need of a transplant. In other words, he’s poor in body parts.
Does it make sense to spread the wealth of body parts around? I mean, after all, it’s not fair to have two perfect kidneys when someone else has none. To me, that makes about as much sense as taking money that one man worked for only to hand it to another for the sake of being fair.
Life is not fair and there’s not a tax or law that can change that. We may kid ourselves in to thinking otherwise, but in the end, rewards are always earned not given.
This nation is split like never before. Basically 50% of us want a bigger government with socialist overtones, and 50% of us want government to take a hike and stay out of our business. But the election of Obama will affect 100% of us for years to come. Obama will appoint at least three Supreme Court judges in his first term and countless more on the federal level. What price will we pay for change?
Those that want change better think long and hard.
This is probably my last post until after the election. To be honest, there are many writers who state what I try to say much better than I do. I find myself repeating the same song about this Obama guy and none of it is entertaining.
On Election Day, I will expect the worst and hope for the best.
I will be voting for John McCain and I encourage you to do the same.
Duck and cover.

17 Questions
Have you noticed debates have become a game to define your opponent and not yourself? I’ve never seen such worthless debates since the schoolyard argument over Ginger or Mary Ann. But here we are without a clear picture of the candidate’s soul because we’re clouded by useless questions and vague answers. For the sake of my sanity and a need to kill time, here are the questions I’d like to ask. But first, debates should have rules. And rule number one.
Do not tell us how your opponent voted on bills. This insults our intelligence; bills are always loaded up with pork spending no matter how important the primary article is needed. So let’s say there’s a bill to give crutches for handicapped orphans, but the bill also contains a million for a clown museum, a million for butterfly research, two million for fish tanks at a bus station, and so on.
It ends up like this, “My opponent wants homeless children to stay shackled to their beds. Look at his record, he voted against, blah, blah, blah…”
So we will have a trap door under each candidate’s chair. The first mention of the other guy, the door swings open and down they slide. The same fate would happen if the candidate goes over the allotted time. The first test of a President… time management.
I realize some of my questions are hypothetical, but sometimes that’s the best way to gauge a person’s first instinct when it comes to tough decisions.
Here we go 17 questions I’ve never heard, but needs to be asked.
Mr. McCain and Obama,
1. Define capitalism as you know it and do you consider yourself a capitalist?
2. Should corporations have a cap on their profits, if yes, what is the monetary cut off to redistribute their earnings? And who would get it?
3. Looking back 30 years to today, are we a more socialized country, less socialized, or about the same?
4. If any, what are the downsides to unions?
5. Should the government provide college tuition for every student?
6. Yes or no, are jobs more important than the environment? One word answer only.
7. If you could change anything in the Constitution, would you and what would it be?
8. Is the Canadian healthcare plan better than the United States medical system?
9. Have you ever blamed the US Government for something that’s happened to you personally? If so what was it?
10. Who do you seek spiritual guidance from and what role will your religion play in your Presidency?
11. On 911, what was your visceral reaction when you learned terrorist attacked the United States?
12. Is Iraq better off since Saddam Hussein was tried and executed? And should Americans care about the welfare of the Iraqi people?
13. If you had the choice to capture Osama bin Laden alive and bring him to trial, or kill him on the spot, what would you do?
14. With all that’s happened over the past four years, who would you rather have right now, George W Bush or Jimmy Carter in office? Neither one will not be an acceptable answer, pick one.
15. Does a father have any rights to his unborn child?
16. What percentage of your income last year was donated to charity?
17. Ginger or Mary Ann?
There you go 17 questions for a candidate, now I’m not a news anchor and I haven’t one degree on my wall, but I think those questions would help an undecided voter. But what do I know; I’m just an idiot with a keyboard.

The cold hard truth
Barack Obama will be the next President and I’ll tell you why. I didn’t research these numbers; it’s just a gut feeling.
20%- want a more socialized government.
10%-want change, no matter what the change entails.
8% -want free healthcare, or what they think is free.
5% -will vote for Obama just because he’s black.
5%- listen to leftist news media and buy into slick ads.
3% - hate George Bush.
1% -will vote for the sexiest or best looking candidate.
1% -will vote for who Hollywood endorses.
That’s 53% of the vote, in all likelihood, Obama will receive about 45% because some voters overlap in my gut feeling poll, but you get the picture. McCain will come in at about 40% leaving 5% to wacko candidates. (Other than Obama)
I hate to paint such a direr outlook, but this country has lost its mind. That’s the only conclusion when you consider Obama has made it this far. I’m sure we can survive an Obama Presidency, however, add a Nancy Pelosi congress and a Harry Reid senate and I’m afraid we will not recognize this country in four years.
Rational thought will have no power. The mandates, laws, and government programs will make the “New Deal” seem Reaganest, while we march on to socialism.
We are about to elect the most liberal senator in congress without a thought to what it all means, or maybe we do and I’m the wacko.
The first and foremost power of a President is nominating federal judges including the Courts of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court. Obama will no doubt appoint the leftist of the leftist when it comes to Constitutional interpretation. Pelosi and Reid will say, “Amen,” and our founding fathers will collectively rollover.
The government will grow to outlandish proportions, a magnitude to which we’ve never seen, (From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs.) This will be paid for by the rich, but history lessons should tell us, redistribution of wealth only works on paper. Taxing to prosperity is a debate never won, yet often tried by those pitting the poor against the rich.
Let’s say Obama really gives it to the rich guy. He taxes him so much, he can’t see straight. What happens? Well, either the rich guy adjusts his prices and passes it to us, or he chooses to close up shop and join the poor. So what’s the end game? You either can’t afford his goods, or another man needs government help. Whichever way you play it, socialism wins.
Like it or not, capitalism needs rich guys, but the beauty of capitalism is everybody has a chance to be rich, not the select few who flourish under government controlled societies.
So let’s forget Obama ever stepped foot in Rev. Wright’s church. Forget his friendship with a known American terrorist house, Bill Ayers. Forget his donations from Fannie Mae. Forget his associations with Acorn. Forget he’s only been a senator for three years and has been running for the last two. Forget he was influenced by Saul Alinsky (who wrote, Rules for Radicals). Forget his childhood mentor was a communist and Obama went to socialist conferences. Forget all of that stuff.
Because we want change… And in about four weeks, change it will be.
